Seljalandsfoss and Glúfrabúi waterfalls and stunning green land.
In the South Island, driving parallel to the coast there are so many places where water falls through the splitting geology. Natural springs and glacier-melt perform their power, falling through canyons and over edges, along their everchanging course. Iceland is an Island that could be driven around in 2 days but that would be impossible to do because there's so much to do and see in this unspoilt, pristine natural terrain-scape. We covered only 55 miles and it took 11 hours of jumping out the car and hiking on trails to see a fraction of the dramatic land forms.
With mega amounts of tourists now flooding into Iceland to view the land here as it may have once existed in their polluted regions, I fear eventually we will bring our mishandling of the earth's natural resources to the warming, higher latitudes of the planet.
Any other breed of horse is forbidden in Iceland. This species is extraordinary using 5 gaits of stepping. They came with first settlers from Norway in 1100. They are friendly, playful and very lovable. http://www.visiticeland.com/things-to-do/activities/the-icelandic-horse
